Building the Village: Baby Sleep Support with Baby Sleep Accelerator®
At Aspen Grove Counseling & Wellness, we know that early parenthood can feel both beautiful and overwhelming, especially when you’re navigating it without a trusted support network. That’s why we created the Building the Village blog series to highlight local professionals and small businesses offering compassionate, grounded care for new and expecting parents in the Atlanta area.
Each post offers a window into the people behind these services — what they do, why they do it, and how they’re helping families feel more supported during one of life’s most transformative seasons.
Families searching for additional resources can explore our guide to postpartum care and support in Atlanta.
In this post, we’re excited to introduce you to Nesta Lumpkin, founder of the Baby Sleep Accelerator® Coaching Program and author of Baby Sleep Accelerator: Your Baby’s Blueprint for Sleeping Through the Night—No Cry-It-Out Required. Through virtual coaching and workshops, Nesta supports parents who are navigating one of the most exhausting parts of early parenthood: helping their baby develop healthy sleep patterns so the entire family can rest.
Sleep challenges are incredibly common in the early months with a baby, and the impact of chronic exhaustion can ripple through every part of a parent’s life. Nesta’s work focuses on helping families create sustainable sleep habits while supporting parents in building confidence and calm during a season that often feels overwhelming.
Sleep challenges are one of the most common stressors families face in the postpartum period, which is why resources like baby sleep coaching are an important part of the broader landscape of postpartum support available to families in Atlanta.
Getting to Know Baby Sleep Accelerator®
Welcome, Nesta, and thank you for sharing your story with us! Can you start by telling us a little about yourself and the work you do?
“I’m Nesta Lumpkin, founder of the Baby Sleep Accelerator® Coaching Program and author of the new book Baby Sleep Accelerator: Your Baby’s Blueprint for Sleeping Through the Night—No Cry-it-Out Required.
In January 2024, just months after leaving my 17-year career at CNN, I launched the Baby Sleep Accelerator® Coaching Program to help moms and dads get their babies to sleep through the night so they too can finally rest.
I’m on a mission to end negative cycles and build strong families. My new book is one way I’m helping parents thrive.”
Do you offer in-person, virtual, or hybrid services?
“I offer virtual coaching sessions via Zoom and also provide in-person workshops and speaking engagements.”
What inspired you to start working with new and expecting parents?
“I was inspired to work with new moms and parents through two pivotal experiences in my own life. When my mother had me, she didn’t have the support she needed. She suffered from postpartum depression and had to seek medical help, and during that time I was placed in foster care. Today, when I help parents get their babies to sleep, it feels like my story has come full circle.
My second source of motivation came when I became a mother myself. Each time my maternity leave ended and I had to return to work, I created a sleep plan for my three babies. Baby sleep coaching became my strategy to balance a demanding career with caring for my family. Now I teach other parents how to navigate those early months of parenthood and overcome the challenges of sleepless nights.”
What are some of the common challenges your clients face in early parenthood, and how do you support them through that?
“Some of the most common challenges my clients face during early parenthood are feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information about newborn care and baby sleep. They often feel confused and frustrated, wondering if something is wrong with their baby when sleep schedules don’t seem to work.
My advice to parents is to work with a baby sleep coach who offers live support and a program that lasts at least four weeks. It’s much more effective to follow one comprehensive method than to piece together random advice from the internet, social media, or well-meaning friends and family.
Another challenge is that many parents don’t realize they can actually get help with their baby’s sleep. They believe they just have to suffer through sleepless nights because it’s part of new parenthood. But with the right guidance, you can begin establishing healthy sleep habits from birth, and by around four months old many babies can start sleeping through the night.
New moms, especially first-time moms, often carry a lot of guilt around baby sleep coaching. Many assume it means letting their baby cry it out endlessly. That is a personal choice and parents should not feel judged if they choose that route, but it’s not the only option. When I coach parents, I teach several gentle and effective methods that allow parents to lovingly support their baby throughout the sleep journey.”

Sleep is just one part of early development. Many parents also seek guidance around movement milestones and motor development during infancy. You can learn more in our conversation with Little B Therapy.
What makes your approach unique or different from others in your field?
“My approach to baby sleep coaching is unique because I provide live, real-time feedback to parents during coaching sessions. Many baby sleep programs only offer a book or an online course, but parents are often desperate for personalized guidance, instruction, and support from someone who has been in their shoes.
While other programs focus only on the basics, like creating a bedtime routine, Baby Sleep Accelerator® goes further. It gives parents a clear, flexible roadmap for handling every stage and situation: sleep regressions, middle-of-the-night wakeups, illnesses, vacations, and more. Parents don’t just learn the rules — they learn how to adapt and succeed no matter what life throws at them.”
Are there particular moments in your work that feel especially meaningful or rewarding?
“The moments that are most rewarding when I am coaching parents are when they have a breakthrough that first night their baby sleeps all night, thanks to the Sleep Association Stacking Method they learn through the Baby Sleep Accelerator® Coaching Program. Many parents have told me it’s so worth it to now have a blueprint to follow for all their future children.
I am so proud of their tremendous progress that I get a bit choked up with joy when saying goodbye to parents I’ve coached. They come into the program stressed and unsure of themselves but leave feeling confident knowing exactly how to get their baby to sleep through the night.”
Can you share one thing you wish all new parents knew or believed about themselves?
“You already have the natural ability and gifts to calm your baby and help them sleep each night.”
“One thing I wish every parent truly believed is that you already have the natural ability and gifts to calm your baby and help them sleep each night. What often gets in the way is exhaustion, the fear of making a mistake, and the flood of information about baby safety and ‘doing it right.’
All of that can feel overwhelming and make you forget what’s true: you’ve got this.”
What’s something you wish more people understood or asked about your work?
“I wish more parents realized that investing in themselves during the newborn and infant stage can lead to years of better sleep for the whole family. Hiring a baby sleep coach can be just as essential as purchasing a car seat, a safe crib, or the right bathtub. It’s a key step in making your postpartum journey smoother and more enjoyable so you don’t have to struggle with exhaustion, overwhelm, and constant fatigue when your baby isn’t sleeping well.”
How can someone know if your service might be a good fit for them?
“You’ll know if my Baby Sleep Accelerator® Coaching Program is a good fit by exploring a few options. You can read my book Baby Sleep Accelerator: Your Baby’s Blueprint for Sleeping Through the Night—No Cry-It-Out Required to learn more about my approach.
You can also view case studies from former clients on BabySleepAccelerator.com to see real results, or book a strategy call so we can talk directly about your baby’s sleep challenges and determine if the program is the right fit for your family.”
We’re grateful to Nesta for sharing her story and for the work she’s doing to support families navigating one of the most exhausting parts of early parenthood.
