Building the Village: Finding Community in Motherhood with MESH Moms

At Aspen Grove Counseling & Wellness, we know that early parenthood can feel both beautiful and overwhelming, especially when you’re navigating it without a trusted support network. That’s why we created our Building the Village blog series to highlight local professionals, organizations, and small businesses offering thoughtful support to new and expecting parents throughout the Atlanta area.

Each post introduces readers to the people behind these services: what they do, why they do it, and how they’re helping families feel more connected, supported, and less alone during the transition into parenthood.

We’ve also created a resource guide highlighting many forms of postpartum support in Atlanta, from therapists and doulas to pelvic health specialists and parenting communities.

This week, we’re excited to introduce you to Martina and Julianna, co-founders of MESH Moms, a community designed to support women through pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood. Built from their own lived experience as mothers, MESH Moms creates in-person opportunities for moms to connect with others in a similar season, build real friendships, and find the kind of ongoing support that can be hard to access in the early years of parenting.

In a season when many moms feel isolated or unsure where to turn, MESH Moms offers something simple and deeply needed: a place to show up, be understood, and build a village alongside others who are navigating the journey too.

Getting to Know MESH Moms

Welcome, Martina and Julianna and thank you for sharing your story with us! Can you start by telling us a little about yourself and the work you do?

“We are Martina and Julianna, the co-founders of MESH moms, a community built to support women through pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood. As moms ourselves (7 kids between the two of us), we experienced firsthand how transformative—but also how isolating—the transition into motherhood can be.”

Do you offer in-person, virtual, or hybrid services?

“We primarily offer in-person events because our goal is to build a strong, supportive community. We also host occasional virtual webinars.”

What inspired you to start working with new and soon-to-be parents?

“We were inspired to start working with new and expecting parents because we know firsthand how joyful and challenging this time can be. As moms ourselves, we wanted to create a space where parents feel supported, connected, and understood—a community that celebrates the highs, shares the struggles, and helps each parent feel less alone on this journey.”

What are some of the common challenges your clients face in early parenthood, and how do you support them through that?

“One of the most common challenges new moms face is how isolating early motherhood can feel—especially when it’s difficult to meet other moms while caring for a newborn. At MESH moms, we support moms by grouping them with others who have babies around the same age. This way, they can share experiences, ask questions, and navigate the same stages together. It’s incredibly powerful for moms to connect with someone going through the same journey at the same time.”

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and take the time to build your village; having support makes these precious years even more meaningful.

What makes your approach unique or different from others in your field?

“There are online Facebook groups where moms can join, but they’re often anonymous and don’t foster real connection. Or moms might attend one-off classes, but it’s hard to build lasting relationships beyond the session. At MESH moms, we focus on creating genuine, in-person connections by organizing events that make it easy for moms to simply show up and be part of a supportive community. Between events, moms stay connected through our WhatsApp groups, giving them ongoing support as they navigate the journey from late pregnancy through the early childhood years.”

Are there particular moments in your work that feel especially meaningful or rewarding?

“Some of the most meaningful moments in our work come from hearing feedback from past pod participants or members about how being part of MESH moms has truly impacted their lives. Many of these moms are still friends years later, and some have even relied on connections made through our community to navigate difficult times, like a divorce. Knowing that we help create lasting friendships and real support networks for moms makes our work incredibly rewarding.”

Can you share one thing you wish all new parents knew or believed about themselves?

“One thing to keep in mind is that while the days might feel long, the years are short. You only get one summer with a baby, two with a toddler, three with a young child—these moments pass quickly, so it’s important to savor them. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and take the time to build your village; having support makes these precious years even more meaningful.”

What’s something you wish more people understood or asked about your work?

“We wish more people understood that many new moms don’t even know what type of postpartum support is available or what to ask for. And many don’t realize how isolating early motherhood can be, and often they don’t ask how moms are really doing or if they have a support network. Our work is focused on creating a community where moms feel seen, heard, and supported at every stage.”

How can someone know if your service might be a good fit for them?

“MESH moms is a great fit for moms who want real connection and support during the early stages of motherhood. If you’re looking for a community where you can meet other moms with babies around the same age, share experiences, ask questions, and attend in-person or virtual events that make it easy to show up, our program could be perfect for you. If you’re ready to build friendships, get guidance, and feel supported, you’ll likely feel right at home with us.”

We’re so grateful to Martina and Julianna for sharing the heart behind MESH Moms and for the community they are building for mothers in Atlanta. Early motherhood can be tender, joyful, exhausting, and isolating all at once, and having a place to connect with others in the same season can make a meaningful difference.

MESH Moms is a beautiful reminder that support does not always have to be formal to be powerful. Sometimes the village begins with a shared stage of life, an honest conversation, and the relief of realizing you are not doing this alone.

You can learn more about MESH Moms and their upcoming events on their website, or connect with them on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
